Stan is originally from Inverurie, ex Mackie Academy, Stonehaven. He was a Captain in the Gordon Highlanders 1944-48, then 40 years in the NHS, the last 17 years at Yorkhill in charge of the two teaching hospitals there, plus three others - and without a multitude of managers!

His other interests have included last voluntary Secretary of the Scottish Table Tennis Association, International TT umpire, Chartered Secretary & Chartered Purchasing Officer.

He went back to school on retirement to learn about Computers 1987-97, then French until 1999.   Now learning about zfc!

He married his wife Iris in Rangoon in 1947 and they stayed together for over 53 years until 5th November 2000 when she sadly died from a heart attack.
